My Tattoo

This is my tattoo. It covers the top 1/3 of my back and goes from shoulder to shoulder. I started it in 1999 just about a year after we lost my brother in an accident, and it took about 3 months to complete. I had been considering it for an extended period of time (something on the order of 5 years), but just thought I should wait and be sure about what I was doing. One of the influences on my decision to go ahead was the realization that life is short and I had really consistently wanted to do this, so I decided to go ahead. Every component of the work has specific meaning to me. The pictures below show some of the components of the piece, and why they are special. The work was done by Laura at Moving Pictures Studio in Wooster, Ohio. I love the work, Laura did a GREAT job. The original plan called for the work to continue down my back with the lower section to be an undersea scene similar to the one shown below.

This is the lighthouse in my Tattoo. It is the first lighthouse I ever visited in Florida. The image to the right is what the lighthouse is based upon. | ![]() |

This tree is in my Granny Doris' front yard. A friend of hers had it put on a postcard because it is so pretty. |
